HOW
TO USE THE MAV ASSET MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGE BASE
Welcome to the Municipal Association of Victoria’s
Asset Management Knowledge Base. The
Knowledge Base is an initiative of the MAV to:

Advance knowledge to link asset management practice with
management and financial reporting.

Work with councils to document the link between existing
good asset management practice and actual consequences in extending or
reducing economic life and hence life cycle costs.
·
Produce a ‘cook book’ of local road management
methods, life cycle cost of renewal treatments, best estimates of economic
lifes of local roads and recommendations for operations and accounting
treatments of local roads
Councils participating in the Asset Management Knowledge Base can use the knowledge base to identify councils with similar cost, traffic and environmental variables to their own, benchmark their performance with best practice of similar councils and exchange best practice information with the aim of providing the appropriate levels of service at the lowest life cycle cost.
